We built in the functionality for RSVP, so those who didn’t feel like mailing the RSVP cards back could take care of that here.

Since it sent us each an email notification, I implemented a quick spam checker to make sure we didn’t get blasted with spam to our inbox’s.

As it turned out, we had a good bit of confusion because people didn’t know if “number of guests” was considering them, or if it just meant an extra person.

One thing I’ve quickly learned as a web designer/developer, people do not read text.

Amie and I got married on May 12, 2007. About a year prior to that date, it was decided that I should build a site that would allow us to keep track of our planning, and share it with our friends and family at the same time.

One thing that this site allowed me to do (design-wise) was step out of my normal “theme” choices. Traditionally, pink and green would not be on my palette. But since our Spring wedding theme was pink and green, the shoe fit.

Granted, this was about 2 years ago, and I’ve become extremely more knowledgeable about design and Ruby/Rails itself, so this site would probably look far different should I redo it, today.

Also, I was solely a Windows user in those days, and these screen shots were just recently taken on my Mac. Little did I know, FF/Safari on the Mac puts a 1 pixel gap between tabs and the content area (not to mention the wrapping text in the footer), which bothers me to no end. Today, I wouldn’t tolerate it, but since the site is over 2 years old, I think I’ll let it slide :-)
