Adding a New Post

This is the form for adding a new post. There’s not much to it, but there are a couple of things to mention.

First, the posts support Textile. That’s a much more intuitive way to write the posts.

Secondly, the categories aren’t really used, but I’ve been keeping track of them since day one. You can still view by category (just replace ‘tag’ with ‘category’ in the URL when viewing by tag). I thought of it as a way to keep a more general collection of posts (since I’m terribly inconsistent with tagging).

Thirdly, the tags will fill the text box by clicking on them. Any tag that’s typed in that doesn’t already exist will be created.

This is my personal site. It’s nothing special, but as a web developer, I feel that it’s important for me to have. I mostly ramble about programming-related issues, which works out because I often go back and reference them later. Plus, I’ve received a ton of help over the years via the comments.

I don’t like to think of myself as a “blogger”. I actually despise that word. I rarely say it (I don’t really like having the “Blog” link in the footer of this very portfolio, but it’s a common buzzword that most people are now aware of). I do enjoy writing, but if I wasn’t a web developer/designer, I wouldn’t be writing (or “blogging”) at all.

This site was built in Ruby on Rails and is running Rails 2.0.2 at the time of this writing. The code base is also a RESTful design.
