The Portfolio (preview)

I had fun building this page. Of course, the portfolio is really here, but I thought it was appropriate to at least put some mention of it.

Rather than duplicate the content, I’m using a library called ActiveResource to pull the projects and photos in from my portfolio. I’m also caching that data so things are speedy. Speed isn’t the only reason, though, as it decouples this site and the portfolio, so one being down doesn’t affect the other.

Clicking on the title will take you to the full project on the portfolio. Clicking on the thumbnail will open up a preview of whatever happens to be shown. For projects, it’s the first screen shot in the order (and it lists how many more screen shots there are on the full project page), and for photos it shows the photo larger.

To the side, you can see that I’m listing a few things that I can do (a little self-promotion). Clicking the “more” link at the end of the list will go out to my portfolio, scrape my about section, and return it using Ajax. It’s easier to maintain that stuff that way, since it’s in the database over at the portfolio.

And that’s about it for this page. it’s arguably a little cluttered, but people read content via RSS anyway :-)
