Within the system, a company can create several “models”, where each one maps to a job role. Once those models are created, they can then be assigned to employees within that company.

The “Models” tab shows all of the models assigned to the currently logged in user. A user can have many models, and the models can be reused within the company for as many employees as desired.

The ability to reuse a model is a great feature because in the case where a competency needs updated, it will be reflected across all employees having the model in which that competency belongs.

The Competency Management Service (CMS) was built to supplement the Network Learning Alliance. It’s a tool that allows a company to measure its performance by modeling the competencies of its employees.

Each company can build models that can be assigned to its employees. A model is really just a group of competencies that accurately reflects the very job being modeled. Each competency can be reviewed by multiple managers. Reviews are really the heart of the system.

The service suggests NLA training based on the outcome of those reviews. It has seamless integration with NLA via API’s on both ends, and all of the company management and authentication happens external to the CMS. It was a fun and challenging project to work on.
