The welcome screen provides a high-level overview of the main options within the system. Competency management is a complex problem to solve, so this screen helps to aid the user into understanding his/her options based on his/her role.

Once a user becomes familiar with the system, they can choose to go straight to the dashboard instead of the welcome screen. This can be set in the sidebar under “Welcome Screen Options”.

The Competency Management Service (CMS) was built to supplement the Network Learning Alliance. It’s a tool that allows a company to measure its performance by modeling the competencies of its employees.

Each company can build models that can be assigned to its employees. A model is really just a group of competencies that accurately reflects the very job being modeled. Each competency can be reviewed by multiple managers. Reviews are really the heart of the system.

The service suggests NLA training based on the outcome of those reviews. It has seamless integration with NLA via API’s on both ends, and all of the company management and authentication happens external to the CMS. It was a fun and challenging project to work on.
